Accessibility

A woman might be reading this one-handed at 3am, on a cracked screen, with a baby asleep on her chest. Accessibility isn't an edge case here — it's the normal case.

What we've built in

  • Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus ring on every interactive element
  • A skip link to jump straight to the main content
  • Semantic headings in order, so screen readers can navigate by structure
  • Labels on every form field, including the ones that look like they don't need one
  • Alt text on meaningful images; decorative illustration is hidden from screen readers
  • Text contrast checked against the warm cream palette rather than assumed
  • Readable base font size, and layouts that reflow rather than shrink on small screens
  • Reduced-motion support — animations are disabled if your device asks for that
  • No important text baked into images
  • Generous tap targets, because one thumb is often all you have

What we're still working on

We're building toward modern accessibility standards rather than claiming to have arrived. Known areas we intend to improve as the site grows: richer alt text as real photography replaces illustration, transcripts and captions for any video we publish, and a full audit with assistive technology before community features open.

Tell us when we get it wrong

If something here is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to know — that is genuinely more useful to us than a compliance badge. Get in touch and tell us what happened, what device or assistive technology you were using, and what you were trying to do.

Nobody hands you the manual.

The fathers' side of this house. Written for him, in his language — so you can send him something rather than summarise it.

You don't have to do motherhood alone.

Lissa's side of this house, and where most of it began. If she sent you here, this is what she has been reading.
