A small tool
When is the baby due?
The same arithmetic your clinic uses, with the cycle-length adjustment most online calculators leave out.
How it works
Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period, not from conception — which is why you are considered about two weeks pregnant on the day you conceive. The standard estimate is 280 days from that first day.
That rule assumes ovulation on day 14 of a 28-day cycle. If your cycles run longer, you likely ovulated later, and your due date shifts by the same amount. The calculator adjusts for that; most don’t.
Why a scan beats the sums
A dating ultrasound in the first trimester measures the baby directly and is more accurate than any calculation from dates, particularly if your cycles are irregular or you aren’t sure of the first day. If your provider has given you a date, that is your date.
