A prayer for the overwhelmed mom
For the days when you can't find words. Borrow these.
Some days prayer is a conversation. Other days it's a word said into a dark room while you rock a baby who will not settle.
Both count. Here are words for the second kind, if you need to borrow some.
Lord, I am tired in a way sleep doesn't fix. I have given today everything I had and it still wasn't enough for everybody. Be near to me in the ordinary. Give me patience I don't feel and kindness I haven't earned. Remind me that I am loved as I am, not as I manage. And let tomorrow be new. Amen.
If you can't pray at all
There are seasons where even this is too much, and I don't think that's failure. Sitting in silence is still sitting with God. So is a sentence as short as "help."
And when you genuinely can't, other women can pray on your behalf. That's part of what a village is for.
“The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
Romans 8:26These are personal reflections. Please weigh them against scripture and your own church community and leadership rather than treating them as doctrine.
